Kerry Irving

Max Out in The Lake District

After a life-altering car accident in 2006 left Kerry with chronic pain and depression, a chance encounter with Max, an English Springer Spaniel, provided the motivation he needed to embark on daily walks in the Lake District. This bond not only aided Kerry's recovery but also inspired countless others through their shared adventures.

Max became a symbol of hope, leading to the creation of the 'Max Out in the Lake District' Facebook page, where their journeys captivated a global audience. Their story has raised over one million pounds for various charities and earned Max the PDSA Order of Merit, recognising his exceptional contribution to society.

Although Max sadly passed away in 2022, his legacy continues through Kerry's ongoing efforts with Paddy, Harry, Tally and Duggy. We're proud to support Kerry and share in the spirit of adventure and resilience that defines his journey.

In December 2024, Kerry achieved an incredible milestone - reaching £1 million in total donations to charity. This remarkable contribution has supported a wide range of causes, including Great North Air Ambulance Service, PDSA, The Brain Tumour Charity, Bravehound, Elsie’s Story, as well as Mountain Rescue teams and Search and Rescue Dog organisations.

We’ve been pleased to support Kerry’s fundraising efforts, including Brew for Moo and Buttermere Bounce charity walks.

We’re pleased to support Kerry with kit that keeps him protected during his time out on the trails, whether he’s walking locally or further afield. From cold, wet conditions to warmer days in the fells, our gear is designed to handle it all!

And of course, we always look forward to a visit from the Max Out in the Lake District team!

You can stay up to date with all of their adventures on Facebook and Instagram, or check out their website!
