Grough – “As temperatures drop, these socks from Keela will help keep your feet warm.”

As temperatures drop, these socks from Keela will help keep your feet warm.

The Expedition Socks blend merino wool with Primaloft insulation to provide a comfortable experience on the trail.

The stretchy socks hug the foot nicely and there’s good underfoot cushioning. The Keela Expedition Socks have different left- and right-foot designs to ensure the best fit, and the heel and toe have Cordura reinforcement for better durability. The Isofil sole helps wick moisture away and there is a ventilated area along the top of the foot.

We found the merino wool content both helped keep feet at the right temperature and kept down odour.

Length is mid, coming part way up the calf, so the socks are suitable for use in winter boots.

We liked the comfort of the soft-feel Expedition Sock and its insulating properties on cold winter days on the hill.

Jovia Spajic – Serbian National Team

Jovica Spajic, representative of national team of Republic of Serbia in Ultramarathon and Skyrunning sport disciplines, and member of Special Anti-terrorist Unit of Republic of Serbia (SAJ), has participated in the Arrowhead 135 race in Northern Minnesota which was in International Falls from 28-30th Jan 2019.
The race had 167 racers from all over the World, and 13 racers finished race in foot division. The race was held in polar vortex conditions where the outdoor temperature was between -30°C and -50°C. Jovica Spajic won with a time of just over 36 hours.

His review is below, and we’re pleased to say he has decided to use these same socks as part of the Iditarod 1000 mile race in Alaska in 2020.

“During (the) whole race, only one pair of socks were used.
The product is absolutely satisfied, in functional way, expected comfort, thermal isolation, cushioning effect and subjective feeling of comfort. Regardless of the thickness of the socks, there was no occurrence of wrinkles or rotation of socks inside of running shoes during the entire race.

Thanks to the construction of the socks, there was no occurrence of the blister on the feet.

By combining Primaloft fibres and Merino wool, (the) sock has enabled evenly breath of feet and it has removed all the moisture from the surface of the foot, as well as the adequate thermal protection.

We must emphasize that during whole race, no matter on outdoor temperature and the type of running shoes that was used, there was no occurrence of hypothermia or the formation of frostbite on the feet.

Sock satisfied extremely difficult task of trail running in extreme winter conditions, both with thermic and construction.”
