These simple, no-nonsense gloves from Scottish brand, Keela, are warm, comfy and provide solid protection from the wintry elements at an excellent price.

The interior is soft and cosy, with polyester Primaloft padding staving off the cold effectively, and the nylon shell outer has decent waterproofing.

Features are pretty good too. The forefingers are touchscreen compatible(…)and each thumb has a patch of soft material for wiping that pesky runny nose.

THE SUN - "I LOVE THE TEXTURED PU FABRIC ON THE PALM AND FINGERS WHICH GIVES EXTRA GRIP".

The inside of these gloves is sooo soft and the length means they keep your forearms warm as well as your hands.

They’re elasticated at the wrist to prevent draughts and stop rain getting in and the forefinger on each glove is touch-screen compatible (but as usual, I couldn’t get this feature to work for me!).

The outer is woven nylon, which kept out the rain on my dog walks and while the fingers are a little bulky they didn’t restrict my movement.

I love the textured PU fabric on the palm and fingers which gives extra grip. This held a shortened lead securely when walking next to busy roads and even when my dog pulled forward, the lead stayed put, without slipping through my hands.

The gloves also contain Primaloft insulation, which ups the warmth factor.

These are a close fit on my smaller hands and, due to their primaloft insulation, are incredibly warm. They have a wrist bungee so you can tighten them against the rain, and they have a soft wipe on the thumb and touchscreen compatible
fingertips too. It seems like Keela has thought of it all with these gloves, which satisfy regs for winter ultras. If they were a little bit less bulky, they would have scored a bit more.

These cosy, well-insulated ski gloves come in a classic design and will keep your hands warm and dry in all types of winter weather. They are both windproof and waterproof so great for wet, heavy snow and powder days alike. On test, we found them to be noticeably lightweight. However, they feature Primaloft insulation so don't be fooled – we found they offered plenty of protection from the cold too. Unlike some ski gloves, these give decent finger dexterity – "certainly all you need to wrap your hands around your ski poles" says out snow sports expert.
