Rainlife 5000

The Rainlife range of fabric can be found throughout our clothing, as the hydrophilic properties make it ideal for waterproof clothing.

Rainlife 5000 uses a texturised outer with a waterproof hydrophilic coating. This delivers improved breathability and waterproofing for fantastic all round outdoor performance.

The Rainlife 5000 pants are a great option to pull on quickly when the skies darken without warning.

The cut is roomy, leaving plenty of space to wear them over your hiking trousers, without sacrificing comfort. Helpfully, the lower leg unzips to the knee, meaning you should still be able to get them on when wearing the chunkiest of hiking boots.

Taped seams offer good protection from the rain and wind, and the waist is elasticated with a simple drawcord plus belt loops, so you can tailor these to fit.

These trousers are lined, medium-weight and pretty packable, meaning you can stow them in your backpack and just whip them on (and off) as needed. Once
you’re walking in them, two access side pockets allow you to reach any gear that’s in your pants pockets, although a little wind and rain can of course get in here. There's a wide range of sizes and three leg lengths too, meaning almost any hiker can find a pair to suit.

These trousers are available in eight sizes and three different lengths (short, regular and long) so you’ll have no trouble finding a pair that fits.

It’s the first time that we’ve worn trousers featuring the rainlife 5000 fabric, which has an outer with a waterproof coating, and they worked well over a prolonged period of bad weather and were adequately breathable while walking. The fact that the fabric is texturised also made them comfortable to wear as an all-day trouser, while the elasticated waist and zip that runs from the bottom of the
trouser to just under the knee (and also has a storm flap for added protection) meant that they are equally effective as an over trouser. In addition, taped seams add to the waterproof barrier, and there are two button-down side pockets, which add functionality.

WALK

Combining a tough, PU outer with a softer nylon lining, these well-priced, longer-length, heavier-duty trousers offer great protection with zipped ankles and through-pockets.
