Layering for the Conditions:
The Munro Expedition Jacket should be worn as part of a complete layering system. Add or remove layers as the weather, your activity level and your individual physiology and warmth requirements change. Pair it with appropriate base layers and mid layers, and consider your whole body: suitable headwear, gloves, socks and footwear are just as important as the layers around your core.
In extreme cold, you may need an additional PrimaLoft® insulated layer, such as our Talus or Galen jackets. Choose your combination to suit the conditions and your personal needs, allowing enough room for layers without restricting movement or compressing insulation.
Why System Dual Protection and PrimaLoft®?
System Dual Protection combines a durable waterproof outer layer with a lightweight inner layer laminated with a hydrophilic membrane. This helps move sweat and condensation away from your body, while the insulating air gap between the layers helps retain warmth in wet, cold conditions.
PrimaLoft® insulation adds soft, lightweight and breathable warmth, with water-repellent fibres that retain much of their insulating ability when wet. Together, these technologies help you manage warmth and moisture through changing activity levels.

System Dual Protection (SDP) is a unique double-layer fabric system with an innovative “Air Gap” design.
A tough, durable outer layer provides 100% waterproof and breathable protection from the elements, while a lightweight inner layer actively wicks moisture away from the body.
Together, the two layers create an insulating Air Gap that helps build warmth and regulate body temperature, reducing overheating during periods of activity and minimising chilling and shivering when stationary.
The system also helps manage and remove inner condensation, reducing moisture build-up inside the garment and helping to minimise the risk of that moisture freezing in low temperatures.
